WELCOME to our site!!! We are a dedicated and diverse group of individuals that are training for various disciplines. Some of us train Search and Rescue, both live find and recovery. And some of us are training to compete in the Sport of Schutzhund. A few of us are training in both areas. We are located on the western side of South Dakota and while a majority of our group lives in or near the Black Hills, we do have members from as far away as Sioux Falls and Minnesota. We look forward to growing and gaining more members as time goes on. South Dakota Search and Rescue Dog Association (SDSARDA) was started in 2005, and has consistently been a small group of handlers dedicated to remaining "Mission" focused. By mission we mean, the saving of human life. While SAR K9's are not a guarantee the individual will be found, they are a definite positive special resource ready to assist when requested by Law Enforcement or Emergency Management. We emphasize that handlers doing SAR be serious and dedicated due to the fact that saving human life is involved. However, that does not mean that we do not have a great time when we are training. We also require that all of our SAR K9 handlers become Nationally certified with NIMS compliant organizations. We believe in working together "so that others may live". Black Hills Working Dog Club (BHWDC) is a recent addition to the area, and we are looking forward to continuing to grow as more people interested in Ring Sport, Schutzhund and SAR work find out we are here. Sport is an intricate and FUN sport and anyone interested is more than welcome to join us to observe training and see if it is something they would be interested in learning more about. Please venture on into our pages to find out more about us, what we do and meet our K9 crew. We also encourage anyone interested to contact us. Thank you for stopping by and enjoy the site. Sincerely; Carol, Sharon, Elizabeth, Sarah, Chuck and Karla |
