Membership is open to all law enforcement, fire/rescue personnel, as well as qualified civilians. Members must meet mandatory training requirements to industry standards for search and rescue personnel.  personnel.                                                                                                           

Training includes:

• Search Management
• Land Navigation Skills/Map and Compass/GPS
• Wilderness Survival Skills                                                                                                                    
  
• Basic Fundamentals of Search                                                                                                                           
• Basic First Responder Training
• Crime Scene Preservation
• Mantracking

Canine Handlers must attend mandatory training and certify with at least one of the following organizations:

• International Police Work Dog Association  (NIMS Compliant)
  
• Federal Emergency Management Agency   (NIMS Compliant)
  
• North American Search Dog Network
• NASAR  (NIMS Compliant)
  

Dogs are trained and certified in the following skills:

• Man Trailing
• Area search/Air Scenting
• Cadaver Search

For deployment purposes, canine handlers are required to be covered under workman's compensation and liability insurance through their local county agency.
